BMLMHC,Inc. has coordinated and participated in
local BCWOP events over several years. Events have included
preaching and prayer led by African American clergy from local
churches (some pictured above). During the 2005 event, Rev. Arthur
Boyd-- CEO of GROUP Ministries, Inc., Buffalo, New York-- was the
keynote speaker. He spoke at the collaborative service held at
Elim Christian Fellowship. During his sermon Rev. Boyd used the 'C'
word (condom) stating that "...individuals who are promiscuous and
who do not use condoms during sex is perpetuating HIV/AIDS in the
Black community."
BCWOP is modeled after the ground-breaking Harlem Week
of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS established in 1989 by Pernessa C.
Seele, CEO of the Balm in Gilead. BCWOP has become the largest AIDS
Awareness campaign in the United States targeting the Black
Community and expands to reach people in the Caribbean and
Africa. Local events for August of this year and 2007 are
